HOW TO MAKE SODA BREAD

Losing weight eating ALL foods may sound too good to be true, but it is a reality for us. Quite often we find people believe you can't eat bread and/or potatoes if you want to lose weight.
We love bread, and it has not stopped us losing weight. There's nothing quite like a freshly baked loaf too, especially one as easy to make as this.
The most difficult part of this recipe is finding the buttermilk in the supermarket. Other than that, if you have ten minutes to spare - then you must try this recipe:

EASY SODA BREAD
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30-40 minutes

INGREDIENTS
For each 100ml of buttermilk or plain yoghurt add the following
125g of flour (see note below)
Half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
Half teaspoon of salt
****
Pre-heat oven to 180ÂșC

Sieve flour into a bowl.

Stir in bicarbonate of soda, salt and buttermilk.

Turn out contents onto a lightly floured work surface and knead lightly for no more than 2 to 3 minutes.

Place on a dry or lightly floured baking tray and cook in the oven for 30-40 minutes.
****
*Note: we did not use bread flour. We tend to use a mixture of half plain and half wholemeal flour.
*Buttermilk is often sold in 284ml cartons. So we use the following ratio of ingredients:
284ml buttermilk
170g plain flour
170g of wholemeal flour
one and a half teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda
one teaspoon of salt
****
