Love bread - hate diets?

Crab sandwich
Restrictive diets usually limit the amount of bread you can eat. Next thing you know, you're craving the bread you can't eat.
I love bread - and it was one of the things I really missed when dieting. There was no substitute really.  What we did about this problem is probably not what you would expect, but it worked for us and helped us enjoy losing weight.
Dieting was always a negative experience for me - can't have this, can't have that. But we now realise it doesn't have to be like that.
Diets can be difficult to sustain (for me at least) partly because you are told 'not' to eat something. Being outside your comfort zone can make you feel grumpy too. Why change the way you eat. You may find by limiting bread you'll weigh less for a while. I suspect that's down to the salt in the bread, which can lead to water retention. My friend moaned that the minute she stopped dieting and began eating bread again, she gained half a stone! So the 'weight loss' she experienced was temporary.
We carried on eating bread and believe this actually helped us lose weight.
If you stop eating foods you are likely to crave, you might just find you eat more, much more. Why go through the torture, end up blaming yourself for wrecking yet another diet which was possibly far too restrictive in the first place.
BEEF AND EGG SANDWICHEmbrace bread and try different flavours, like we do. Just keep a balanced approach, vary your diet and enjoy your food.
We counted the calories in this tasty beef and egg sandwich and found around 450 - which we thoroughly enjoyed. It's the enjoyment of food that can help you feel good, so why not eat something you really enjoy. Bread is quickly digested, so adding a fried egg and the beef (we had some left over slow roast beef) will slow everything down, keeping you feeling nice a full for longer.

Do you know how many calories you are allowed each day?
Here's a link to our very first blog post about our weight loss journey, which we began in January 2011. We started this blog as a way of recording what we ate while losing weight. The blog is a food diary, and contains lots of recipes, tips and ideas about losing weight.
Here's how to FORGET DIETING
