Smoked salmon

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs
Here's our quick lunch - smoked salmon with scrambled (duck) eggs. The richness of the eggs complimented the salmon perfectly. We estimate this dish at around 450 calories - including the toast.
Losing weight doesn't stop when you reach your 'goal'.
Because we have lost weight slowly, we found we learned a lot about the foods we like to eat. We know how many calories they contain and we can now roughly calculate a plate of food just by looking at it. This is helping us keep the weight off.

With our weight loss method, you choose all your favourite food and how much you prefer to exercise. We generally walk, and like to clock up at least half an hour per day. When the weather is good, we love to take in the fresh air and walk for a little longer - but that's our choice.
Walking can be turned into extra calories - which can then be used to either eat more or add to your weight loss.
Whatever exercise you choose - make it sustainable, then like us, you'll have created your own formula for successful weight loss. Walking may be easy, although it is time consuming and I know a lot of us clock watch. But, if you make a small effort, you may find (like we did) you end up doing more than you first thought.
Our 20 minute walk to the shops/pub will mean we have around 70-80 extra calories to consume if we wish. That may not sound a lot, but it's approximately equal to one chocolate digestive. The number of calories you burn through exercise is dependant upon your height and weight. When we first started tracking our walking, we estimated each mile at around 100 calories, but as we're lighter we estimate this at around 70-80 calories. We have never been precise - because that's not what our method is all about. We are casual in our approach, because there are other things we prefer to be doing in our life than counting! So use calories as a guide - and don't be a slave to them.

REMEMBER: We all have a calorie allowance - do you know yours?
We began our weight loss journey in January 2011 - and began our blog in June 2011. Here's a link to the first post. (here's the link).
We like to post our main meals to show you what CAN be eaten. You won’t find us posting every last morsel though – but we hope this gives you an idea of how far calories can go! I'm currently going through the photographs and replacing them with more website friendly versions which will allow the blog to load quickly.
