We bought a cooked ham hock from the supermarket and transformed it into ten whole meals.
Our tip for this salad
is to pull the meat apart using two forks. It not only doubles the volume of the meat, but you feel as if you are eating so much more. We do the same with cheese - grate very finely and it looks so much more.
In this photograph we used 50g of ham hock - which is around 75 calories. The whole salad (with a side of 140g buttered new potatoes) was under 400 calories. It took a while to crunch our way through it, and you'll be very satisfied at the end. It's texture (and taste) makes a nice change from ordinary sliced ham. Why not search our calorie labels for other recipe ideas. Or take a look at my PINTEREST boards for even more inspiration. Have you got any tips and tricks you want to share with us? If so please let us know.
REMEMBER: We all have a calorie allowance - do you know yours? And, you can eat what you want.
We began our weight loss journey in January 2011 - and began our blog in June 2011. (here's the link) to our very first blog post. This was way before the 5:2 made its debut in the UK (Aug 12).
